Switch to Long Tail Pro
Due to some recent excessive slowness and other reasons mentioned in the Podcast, I decided to make the switch from Market Samurai to Long Tail Pro.
It is something that I’ve been thinking about for a while, but it wasn’t something that came to a head until recently.
I was assisting a friend with some keyword research and when I tried to do so via Market Samurai, it was excessively slow, to the point where it took over 20 minutes and it hadn’t returned any results.
Most likely that was an issue that I could have possibly resolved via their support team, but I decided to instead utilize that as my motivation to make the switch to Long Tail Pro, since it was something I wanted to do anyway.
That same query and competition analysis took less than 1 minute via Long Tail Pro, so I was very happy to see that it still works as well as it did when I last gave it a try.

Tool of the Week – Peek, Free Website Video Evaluation
Peek, will provide you a free, 2-3 minute video evaluation of your website(s). You can get 3 free evaluations per month, per email address, from completely random people.
Be aware, they will give you their very honest, sometimes very blunt, first impression of your site.
It was certainly eye opening and I recommend that you go ahead and have 3 different reviews done for your own site and also use another email and get 3 other reviews of competing sites for comparison.
It is definitely helpful, but certainly don’t base the opinions of just 3 random strangers as gospel. Take any commonalities across the 3 reviews as potential things to consider.
It was very interesting to me that all 3 clicked right on my Start page and all 3 had a hard initial time figuring out exactly what my site was about, within the first 30 seconds.
Of course, none were in my target audience, so I would expect that most people looking to create niche websites would know what my site was about, but it did give me a lot of things to consider, especially for when I do a redesign of my site down the road.
To give you an idea of what to expect and to also show you that I definitely have some room for improvement, here is the video playback from one of my reviews.
Did you try out the Peek free website evaluation service? Was it better or worse than you expected? Planning to implement any specific changes as a result?
